Mid last year Utah introduced new laws for accessing Wildlife/Waterfowl Management Areas that surprised the birding world. It’s been controversial to say the least. Here are my thoughts: 1. While it’s difficult to pay for something that was previously free, I do understand that these WMAs are expensive to maintain and that funding should go toward conservation. I don’t mind paying my fair share. 2. While I don’t mind paying, I do mind that I’m required to buy a fishing or hunting license. I feel
